What we handle

Every part of the yard stay.

Most vessels coming to Tuzla or Yalova need four parties: a ship's agent, a yard, an engineering firm and a parts supplier. Ortech Marine is all four, with one contact for the whole stay.

  • 01Repair specification, item by item, aligned with class requirements
  • 02Yard selection in the Tuzla or Yalova region for your scope
  • 03Tariff and contract negotiation in the owner's interest
  • 04Genuine OEM parts through authorised channels, customs cleared
  • 05Daily progress reporting, quality inspection and change-order review
  • 06Port-state liaison, crew transit through Sabiha Gökçen, provisioning
Cost control

Where yard budgets grow, and how we hold them.

Most repair budgets bleed at the yard quote and in the extras that follow. These are the lines we watch on every stay.

LineThe usual problemHow we hold it
Steel renewalQuoted in kilograms as an estimate. The real quantity appears after thickness gauging, often well above the quote.Unit rate agreed before arrival. Gauging witnessed, renewed steel measured jointly with the yard.
Blasting & coatingAreas in m² and the surface-preparation grade read differently by owner and yard.Areas, preparation standard and coating system fixed in the specification. Surfaces inspected before coating.
General servicesDock rent, electricity, cooling and fire water, garbage, gas-free certificates, fire watch and cranage, all charged per day.Daily tariff checked against the agreed stay. Dock days kept to the plan.
ExtrasNew items raised during the stay, priced after the work is done. Each extra priced against the yard tariff and approved before work starts. Logged daily.
DelaysDock days that slip, and no record of who caused them.Daily progress against plan, so the cause of any delay is on record when it happens.
Final invoiceInvoiced quantities that differ from what was actually done.Final account reconciled item by item against agreed quantities and the daily log.
How it works

How a yard stay runs with us.

  1. 01

    Before arrival

Pre-arrival survey, detailed work specification and class-aligned scoping, so the yard quote is the right one before the vessel docks.

  2. 02

    Yard and contract

We compare yards in Tuzla or Yalova on the same scope, then negotiate tariff and terms on the owner's behalf.

  3. 03

    During the stay

One named engineer accountable from arrival to departure, with daily reporting and every extra approved before work starts.

  4. 04

    Close-out

Class items, test records and the final account closed out before the vessel sails.

Questions

Common questions.

Which shipyards do you cover?

The Tuzla shipyard region on the Anatolian shore of Istanbul, and the Altınova shipyards in Yalova across the Sea of Marmara. Both are within hours of mobilisation from our office in Tuzla.

Do you work for the shipyard?

No. We act for the shipowner. Yard selection, contract negotiation, quality inspection and change-order review are all done in the owner's interest.

We already send a superintendent. Why add an agent?

We work alongside your superintendent. We bring local yard knowledge, tariff negotiation in Turkish, daily presence at the yard, and the customs and port work, so your superintendent can concentrate on the technical decisions.

How do you charge?

Per project, or as a fixed-scope Voyage package that covers agency and engineering for the whole stay, quoted before the vessel arrives.

Can you also do the technical work?

Yes. The same team provides the engineering: technical management, automation and electrics, retrofits, overhauls and specialty repair.

How quickly do you reply?

Within one working day, with a named engineer and a path forward.

Other services

One accountable partner.

The same team covers agency, engineering and parts, so one contact handles the whole job.
