Why DEVA®

Where grease reaches its limit.

Submerged, in the splash zone, under high edge loads or micro-movements, conventional greased bearings fail, seize or pollute. DEVA® materials carry the lubricant inside the bearing itself.

1936

First powder-metallurgical bearing material with embedded solid lubricant. More than 85 years of development.

1 mm – 32 m

Bearing diameters manufactured, as bushings, plates, segments and spherical bearings.

−200 / +800°C

Operating range across the material families. Seawater, corrosive media, dust, radiation, vacuum.

0 grease

No lubrication points, no maintenance intervals, no oil in the water. Electrically conductive, no stick-slip.

Materials

Four material families.

The right choice depends on load, sliding speed, temperature and medium. We select and size each bearing together with DEVA® application engineers.

deva.metal sintered bearings

deva.metal®

Sintered metal with dispersed solid lubricant

Bronze, iron, nickel or stainless-steel matrix with graphite dispersed evenly through the material. Highest temperature range, high static and dynamic load, no water absorption. Used where conventional lubrication is impossible, or as back-up for water-lubricated hydrodynamic bearings.

deva.bm bi-metal bearings

deva.bm®

Bi-metal: stainless steel backing with sintered bronze sliding layer

Seawater-resistant 1.4301 or 1.4571 stainless backing with a self-lubricating bronze layer (graphite or PTFE). Compact, heavy-duty and free of stick-slip. Standard bushings up to Ø800 mm; larger sizes are segmented. Four microstructures and more than 44 variants.

deva.glide bronze bearings with lubricant plugs

deva.glide®

Cast bronze with solid-lubricant plugs

Wear-resistant copper alloy with lubricant plugs arranged to suit the direction of movement. Tolerates misalignment, dirt, impact and edge loads. The material used in the largest DEVA® bearings: pipe-lay stinger hinges, jacking systems and mooring turrets.

deva.tex fibre composite bearings

deva.tex®

Glass-fibre reinforced composite with solid lubricants

Wound epoxy composite with a high-strength backing and an optimised sliding layer. No swelling in liquids, insensitive to shock and vibration, suitable for micro-movements. deva.tex 552 is DNV-approved for offshore use and certified for rudder bearings (DNV, GL).
